Toward a Free and Virtuous Society Conferences designed for
seminarians and other future religious leaders, these conferences
offer an introduction to the moral foundations of personal and
economic liberty. By combining an in-depth treatment of economic
principles with principles of social justice and anthropology,
Toward a Free and Virtuous Society seminars focus on applying
the foundational ideas of economic liberty to complex issues
such as poverty, welfare reform, and globalization. |

Centesimus Annus Conference
Series
The common theme of these nine conferences is to highlight Centesimus
Annus’ contributions to Christian social thought,
and it’s insights into the political, economic, and cultural
dilemmas confronting the modern world. The conferences will
deal with various themes from the encyclical including entrepreneurship,
subsidiarity and solidarity, the role of family in the free
economy, globalization, the environment, and the vocation of
business. In conjunction with the lecture series, the Acton
Institute is awarding Travel Grants and Academic Scholarships
to qualified seminarians and graduate students. |

Acton Lecture Series
The Acton Lecture Series began in 1991 as a service to the local
community. Through the series, the Institute seeks to bring
knowledgeable and thought-provoking speakers to the area, providing
our local audience the opportunity to interact with prominent
thinkers on issues of faith and freedom. |

Student Awards
and Scholarships
The Institute has a number of award and scholarship programs
for current and post-graduate students. These programs are intended
to further academic discourse on the issues of freedom and liberty. |
