On May 2, Dinesh D'Souza spoke at Grand Rapids' Ladies Literary Society, providing
in-depth analysis of the spiritual and social crisis that has been spawned by
the new economy and new technologies. D'Souza couched his reasoning in how we
are all affectedpositively and negativelyby the massive changes
under way.
His speech was based upon his recent book, The Virtue of Prosperity, in which
D'Souza creates an unforgettable portrait of some of the movers and visionaries
in today's economy: Steve Jobs, Eric Schmidt, George Gilder, T.J. Rodgers, and
Ted Turner. But he also digs deep to understand what people who are not in the
new economy vanguardscholars, pundits, clergy, ordinary workersthink
and feel about our new prosperity.
Ultimately, D'Souza revealed his understanding of how society can harness the
power of technology and affluence to promote individual fulfillment and the
common good.
