R. Dean Davenport, the winner of the 1999 Lord Acton
Essay Competition, is a doctoral candidate at Baylor University. He is currently
writing a dissertation on theological objections to public education.
Dr. Elizabeth Fox-Genovese is the Eleonore Raoul Professor
of the Humanities at Emory University. She is also the author of several books,
including The Origins of Physiocracy, Within the Plantation Household:
Black and White Women of the Old South, and Feminism Is Not the Story
of My Life.
Dr. D. Eric Schansberg is a professor of economics at
Indiana University at New Albany. He is the author of Poor Policy: How Government
Harms the Poor (Westview Press, 1996) and is a contributor to several books
that deal with economics and public policy.
Rev. Robert A. Sirico, a Roman Catholic priest, is the
co-founder and president of the Acton Institute for the Study of Religion and
Liberty.
Dr. Matthew Spalding is the director of the B. Kenneth
Simon Center for American Studies at the Heritage Foundation. His areas of expertise
include governmental reform, civil society, and democracy.
Dr. John West is a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute.
His publications include The Politics of Revelation and Reason, The C. S.
Lewis Readers’ Encyclopedia, The Encyclopedia of Religion and American
Politics, and The New Federalist Papers.
